Process for submissions not related to self publishing

 

• Please e-mail your submissions to submissions@iziza.co.za. Please review our forum if you wish to share some of your work for review with forum members. No manuscripts submitted in hard copy through the post, from either agents or authors, will be returned.  
• Please include a covering letter that should include your name, surname, contact details, age if you are a child, genre, background on yourself, and a short paragraph on your book.
• Please include the following in the subject line of the e-mail in the exact format noted:
• Submission, Name, Surname, Genre, Title, child/adult, age(if a child)
• Please include a synopsis no longer than two A4 pages which should include full details on the plot.
• If you are submitting a novel, please send the first three chapters. Please include a proposal if you are submitting non-fiction which should also include an outline and any additional information that would make it easy for us to review your proposal. We prefer it if you use 1.5 spacing and font size 12 – Times new roman but adequate margin on right hand side.

Once we receive the e-mail with your submissions, it will be added to our submissions database and logged. The submissions will be read chronologically. Please allow at least three months for feedback.

Our review process will include some of the following:

• We would review if we think that retailers would be interested in promoting the book and what the market would want.
• Publishing the book ourselves would require a large monetary investment by us and many months of work and therefore we are very critical when deciding which books we think will make business sense to publish as we want the book to be financially successful.
• We will also review if we have enough experience within a specific market prior to publishing, e.g. this may be very applicable to non-fiction manuscripts.

After the initial review process:

After the initial review we may decide to request the submission of the complete manuscript for review and will consequently contact the author or alternatively send a rejection note.
